Continued Use of the “Professor” Title

When leaving UZH (before retirement age), professors may apply to the governing body of their faculty for permission to continue using the title of “professor”.

Responsibilities

The governing body of the faculty reviews the application and, if it is approved, submits it to the Extended Executive Board of the University for a final decision (§ 8 UniO). The Extended Executive Board makes the final decision on whether or not the title of “professor” may continue to be used after leaving the University (see § 59 para. 6 UniO).
